Warhammer: The Horus Heresy – Age of Darkness launches the new edition of the Warhammer: The Horus Heresy game.

Set 10,000 years before the events of Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer: The Horus Heresy is set amidst the turmoil and strife of the Imperium of Mankind’s great galactic civil war, as the eponymous traitor and Warmaster, Horus Lupercal turned brother against brother as he betrayed his father, The Emperor of Mankind, to watch the galaxy burn.

In Relation to Other Products:

As the Warhammer: The Horus Heresy – Age of Darkness boxed set launches the new Warhammer: The Horus Heresy game, there are a host of accompanying products launched alongside it, all or which are great discussion points with customers in your store as well as opportunities to upsell these additional products to your customers.

The first of these products consists of two separate Army Books, providing full army list rules for both loyalist and traitor Space Marine Legions for use in The Horus Heresy (these replace the Introductory Army List contained in the Age of Darkness boxed set).

The first, Liber Astartes (31-30), provides rules for all the Loyalist Space Marine Legions, including rules for: Dark Angels, White Scars, Space Wolves, Imperial Fists, Blood Angels, Iron Hands, Ultramarines, Salamanders and Raven Guard Legiones Astartes.

The second, Liber Hereticus (31-31), provides rules for all the Traitor Space Marine Legions, including rules for: Emperor’s Children, Iron Warriors, Night Lords, World Eaters, Death Guard, Thousand Sons, Sons of Horus, Word Bearers and Alpha Legion Legiones Astartes.

Either, or both, of these books are excellent first pick ups for customers coming in to store as they’ll provide your customers with all the rules and background lore they could want in order to make more informed choices before delving deeper into The Horus Heresy.

If your customers want to dive straight into upgrading their miniatures to allow them to use other units in their games, they would be very well served in picking up both the Special Weapons Upgrade Set (31-05) and Heavy Weapons Upgrade Set – Missile Launchers and Heavy Bolters (31-04), allowing them to use the Tactical Support Squad and Heavy Support Squads in their games straight away. Both kits are designed to work seamlessly with the MKVI Space Marine Legionaries contained in the Age of Darkness boxed set, with the Special Weapon Upgrade Set providing a massive 60 Special Weapons – 10 each of 6 different types of Special Weapon (Meltagun, Plasma gun, Flamer, Rotor Cannon, Volkite Caliver and Volkite Charger), while the Heavy Weapon Upgrade Set contains 10 each of both Heavy Bolters and Missile Launchers.

Although the Age of Darkness boxed set contains a Spartan Assault Tank, ideal for transporting the Cataphractii Terminators safely around the battlefield, some customers may also want transport options for their Legionaries and Praetors. The Deimos Pattern Rhino (31-02) is a brand new take on an classic Space Marine transport vehicle, that can be used in games of both The Horus Heresy and Warhammer 40,000. For customers who prefer to add a bit more punch to their arsenal, the Kratos Heavy Assault Tank (31-20) provides a tough, resilient and dedicated heavy weapons gun platform – coming with a choice of 3 main weapons – all of which are capable of punching through tough enemy armour. The Kratos Heavy Assault Tank is also the first brand new addition to the range that has not previously been supported in any other medium, and to help ensure all your customers can enjoy the firepower of the heavy assault tank, the Kratos will also be being supported with digital, matched play legal, rules for use in games of Warhammer 40,000 as well – giving you even more great opportunities to cross promote this tank miniature kit to a broader spectrum of your customers.
