The Product Offer:
The Lord of the Rings The Fellowship of the Ring: Battle in Balin’s Tomb – A Middle-earth Adventure Game, is an all new game set in JRR Tolkien’s Middle-earth.
Battle in Balin’s Tomb is a brand new product offering, it is not an expansion for our Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game product line, but an entirely separate standalone game that makes use of 22 of our plastic Middle-earth miniatures.
This includes the 9 members of The Fellowship of the Ring (in blue plastic), 12 Moria Goblins (in red plastic) and 1 Cave Troll (in grey plastic).
Launched as part of Games Workshop’s celebrations of the 20th Anniversary of the Fellowship of the Ring films, the boxed game is an ideal pick-up for families wanting something light and fun to play over the festive period. The rules are simple, and the models are from our simpler, quicker to construct ‚push fit range‘.
Requiring absolutely no previous knowledge of our tabletop games, the game’s innovative AI mechanic ensures every game is different, offering a good degree of replayability, Battle in Balin’s Tomb is a truly intergenerational game for the whole family.
Focusing on the events that transpired in Balin’s Tomb as the Fellowship of the Ring journeyed across Moria, this exciting game pits the Fellowship against tide after tide of evil Moria Goblins, and the brute they keep amongst their number, a terrifying Cave Troll, as the Fellowship fights desperately for their lives, the fate of the whole world hangs in the balance.
In Relation to Other Products:
As Battle in Balin’s Tomb is an entirely standalone game (not linked to the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game), conversations with the customer in relation to their affinity for Middle-earth is a prime avenue to explore and see if they would like to expand their horizons into the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game itself.
In this way, the Middle-earth starter set, Battle of Pelennor Fields, is an ideal follow on item for customers with looking to expand their interest into tabletop games.
Conversely, customers may want to add additional Goblins to their Battle in Balin’s tomb experience, and could do so easily by picking up Moria Goblins. Customer’s who pick up additional Moria Goblins may also want to use the Battle in Balin’s Tomb game as a springboard into collecting a Moria army (for the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game or as a modelling/painting project), and those that do so would do well to look to pick up The Balrog
